難しい言葉はないのに、何のことやらつかめない感じ・・・
たぶん、少なくとも数ページ読まないと、話が見えてこないんでしょうね。
小説の一つの醍醐味ですね。

多読界（？）で有名な'Holes'も、違いますけど、そういうとこありますね。
最初の100ページぐらい、何の話なんだ、何が面白いんだ、と思いながら読んだおぼえがあります。
100ページぐらいで、ムムッ？となって、後は俄然面白くなって、一気に読み終えたのでした。
ああいう本にまた出会えないかなぁ。

もしかして "carer" という用語がわかりにくいかもしれませんね。
物語のプロットは単純で、
語り手の少女時代から成長の段階にそって展開されます。

その後の盛り上がりを私も思い出しました。
