1954年　生まれ

1970年代
子供たちが読んでいる本はどれも気に入らなかった。
それで、自分で子供の本を書いてみることにした。

奥さんと出会った時、彼女は小学校のカウンセラーをしていた。
彼女は、model for the counselor in There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom. だ。
1985年に結婚した。

娘の Sherreが1987年に生まれた。
彼女は、Marvin Redpostの４歳になる妹のモデルになった。

Ａ：I've finished a book about Armpit and X-Ray.
　　It will be published in January. The title is Small Steps.

というほどでもないですが・・

・子供の手の届く場所に保管してください。
・成人は１日１冊以内

■　児童書に慣れておこう！

　GRを中心に読まれていた方は、やはりとっつきにくいと思います。
　いきなりだと、私も難しいと思っただろうと思います。

私はMRにたどり着くまでに、まずGRを90万語読み、次に、

・Magic Tree House　＃１〜１６
・Nancy Draw Notebooks　＃１〜１０
・Full House Michell　＃１〜１０

を読みました。
その後にMRをサクサク読んだので、非常に面白かったのです。

初めて読んだ Magic Tree House　は、非常に読みにくく感じ、
慣れるのに、１０冊ほどかかりました。
しかし、パターンを理解すると、読みやすくなりました。

児童書にある程度慣れておくと、面白さ倍増ですよ！
　
　

・・具体的には・・
■　飛ばし読みに慣れよう！

　GRには出てこない単語がたくさん出てきます。
　少しずつステップアップしてきた場合、
　ほとんど理解できる状態だ、ということが多かったのでは・・・？
　児童書の場合、全部理解できる、ということは
　あまりありません。（私の場合ですが）

　６〜７割理解できていたらOKという気持ちに切り替えましょう。
　それでも、同じレベルのものをたくさん読んでいると、
　だんだん理解度が上がっていきます。

compose yourself : to try hard to become calm after feeling very angry , upset or excited
conclusion : something you decide considering all the information you have
conference：an event, sometimes lasting a few days, at which there are a group of talks on a particular subject, or a meeting in which especially business matters are discussed formally
convince : persuade , to make someone feel certain that something is true
cramp：a sudden painful tightening in a muscle, often after a lot of exercise, which limits movement
crook : =bent
crumple : crush into a smaller bent shape
dangled : to hang or swing loosely or to make something do this
defiantly : clearly refusing to do what someone tells you to do
depress : to make someone feel very unhappy
describe ：to say or write what someone or something is like:
desperate : needing or wanting something very much
desperate : very bad situation
determination : the quality of trying to do something even when it is difficult
determine : to find out the facts about something
detours : a way of going from one place to another that is longer than the usual way
digest : to change food that you have just eaten into substance that your body can use
discipline : to teach someone to obey rules and control their behaviour
distort : to change the appearance , sound , or shape of something so that it is strange
drastic : extreme and sudden
drizzle : light rain and mist come out of the sky
environment : things that are around you in your life
faucet : the things that you turn on and off to control the frow of water from a pipe
ferociously : violent , dangerous and frightening
frantic : extremely worried and frightened about a situation
frown : to make an angry , unhappy , or confused expression , moving your eyebrows together
gaze : stare
glue : = stick = to join two things together
gobs of : a large amount of something
grimace : to twist your face in an ugly way because you do not like something
grocery : food and other goods
grumpy ：easily annoyed and complaining:
hag : ugly or unpleasant woman
hiccup : a sudden repeated stopping of the breath
hilarious : extremely funny
hush : to make someone stop shouting
ignore : to behave as if you had not heard or seen someone or something
impatient : very eager for something to happen and not wanting to wait
inquisitive : asking too many questions and trying to find out too many details about something
intently : giving careful attention to something
invent : to think of an idea , story
jerk : to move with a quick sudden movement
knot : a tight uncomfortable feeling
lag : to move or develop move slowly than others
lick : to move your tonge across the surface of something in order to eat it
lunge : to make a sudden strong movement towards someone or something
measure : an action , especially an official one
modestly : not proud not big shy
nick : in the nick of time = just before it is too late
ornament : a small object that you keep in your house because it is beautiful rather than useful
overwhelme : having such a great effect on you that you feel confused and do not know how to react
paste : a soft smooth food
permission : = let = allow
pour out : tell someone
rage：(a period of) extreme or violent anger:
relieved : feeling happy
reluctant : slow and unwilling
scoff : to laugh at a person or idea
scoot : to move quickly and suddenly
scowl : to look at someone in an angry way
scribble：to write or draw something quickly or carelessly:
shudder : to shake for a short time because you are afraid or odd
squirm : to twist your body from side to side because you are uncomfortable or nervous
stall : bathroom , a small enclosed private area
startle : to make someone suddenly surprised
startle：to do something unexpected which surprises and sometimes worries a person or animal
storage : when you keep or put something in a special place while it is not being used
swerve :to make a sudden sideways movement while moving gorwards
tack : =pin // to attach something to a wall using a tack
threaten : to say that you will cause someone harm or trouble if they do not do what you want
threaten ：to tell someone that you will kill or hurt them, or cause problems for them if they do not do what you want:
throw up : to bring food or drink up from your stomach out through your mouth because you are ill
tolerate：to accept behaviour and beliefs which are different from your own, although you might not agree with or approve of them:
transfer : to move from one place , school . job etc to another
tremble : to shake slightly in a way that you cannot control
tumble : to fall down quickly and suddenly
withdrew : take out
