The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: 17540 words: 43230 words in total

The 5th book of Yohhan Ladder series to me.
And this is the first story that I had read before.

But I had quite different impression from my first reading.
When I read it before, it was in the Japanese translation
and I was a kid as young as Tom Sayer.
But this time, I read it in English, and I had been much older than Tom.

Though I read it before and it was for the children, it was quite exciting!
It was so humorous that I laughed so many times.
It was so thrilling that I could not stop reading until such late at night.

Mark Twain, the author, had written in A Few Words to Begin;
"My book is for boys and girls, but I hope that man and women also will read it.
I hope that it will help them to remember when they were boys and girls,
and how they felt and thought and talked, what they believed,
and the strange things they sometimes did."
This word talks very well how this story is worth to read for every people.

The kids in this story are quite silly, just because they are kids.
But they are not just silly.
They are brave, honest, and know how to enjoy the life.
For that things, I, a middle aged man, should learn much from them.

This is still in the lowest level of ladder.
I'm quite happy that I could read such a great story in the easy English!

Tom did not want the Bible.
But he did want the wonderful experience of receiving it.

Her big eyes told him that he had said the wrong thing.
彼女が大きく目を見開いたので、彼は何か間違ったことを言ってしまったことを知った。

When the boys went home, they wer sad because Robin Hood had lived so long ago.

The dead doctor, the body and the opened box were alone in the graveyard.
