How do you do, Moringsan?

It's good to see your writing about the noted book here. To Kill a Mockingbird is certainly a great work of prose fiction.

I see the story as a girl's experience of slowly coming to see the bad side of her country and still keeping love and respect for it.

In addition to the chief story of the book, I'm interested in other small things Harper Lee took time putting in and making the book longer, like the girl's love of reading, her schoolteacher's view against it, the strange and beautiful boy who was in fact Truman Capote, inside of the black church, and so on.

With respect.

Thank you for replying.

Yes, it was.

Yes, she can read newspapers when she enterd the first grade.
I remembered Dahl's "Matilda". Also stories about neighbours were interesting.

〉the black church, and so on.
Oh, I didn't remember Truman Capote in the scene at the blach church.
I must review it.

See you.
Happy Reading!

Dear Moringsan:

Yes. The girl who goes by the name of "Scout" is as good as Dahl's Matilda at reading, though she has no strange powers like making a stick of chalk go up in the air.

I put a number of different things mixed up together in my writing 975, so let me make them clear:

The boy made after Capote is Dill, though there is no sign in the book to let the reader see it. Scout and Jem's play with Dill and her experience of going to the black church are in different parts of the book.

I saw a TV program on making of the motion picture To Kill a Mockingbird. It's with the Special Edition DVD of the moving picture. In the program, the writer Horton Foote gives a talk about how he made Harper Lee's book into the screenplay. When he was getting ready for writing, he had a meeting with Lee, and she said to him that Dill was Capote, so he made Dill more like Capote, who was a noted man at the time. And a boy actor who is truly looking like Capote did the part in the moving picture, guiding Scout and Jem on the journey into the dark space.

Then I understand I didn't remember the name.
But it's shame that I hadn't been having a bit about his name
because now I know he is the author of Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I searched his name at Google and found a article about him at WIKIPEDIA.
It says they are lifelong friends. And it even says there were a rumor that TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD was written by him (but it was wrong.).
Now I'm looking forward to watch DVD. In fact I already had it for old movie that I bought at a bookstore near my working place by 500-yen recently.

Thank you for letting me know his name.
Knowing around the story is the fun part of reading books, isn't it?

See you.
Happy Reading!
