Hi, everyone!
Last week, I have sent an E-mail to my favorite podcast station,
aaaand, they read it! Wow!!
Now, I’m trying to send next one, but I have one thing I need to make sure.
I want to let them know a Japanese word used for greetings.
Because, when people in my favorite podcast get an E-mail from a country out of U.S.A., they say a very short word which may be used as a greeting in the mailer’s country.
What do you think is the best word for Japanese?
I came up with the word “まいどー”, you know, I’m from Kansai area, but I don’t think it’s a good idea.
I want to have a very short word which can be pronounced easily for Americans and is also used both men and women in Japan.
If you have any idea, please let me know.
Thanks.

Hi, emmie-san. It's Izuko.
This is a very, very difficult question, isn't it?
It's been unresponded for a month・・・
You mean 「こんにちは」is too long? It has five syllables.
(English speakers may pronounce this as four sylables like 「こにちは」

Oh, by now have you already done it? With your own idea of Jananese "Hi"?
If so, please let us know which word did you use?
「まいどー」sounds a good idea, I suppose.
Let them know Kansaish Japanese!!
「んちゃ」is short. It's Arale Language.
「おはこんばんちは」is also an Arale word, but it is too long, I know.
How about 「はーい。」which is directly from English greetings?
And 「やっほー。」might be an idea.
〉If you have any idea, please let me know.
〉Thanks.
I didn't have any good idea, but anyway I came. No conclusion, not helpful...
Sorry!
(Oh, how long have I wanted to get i-tunes in my PC...?)

Hello, いづこsan!!
Thank you for your comment.
I've already sent my second e-mail, but haven't included any Japanese "Hi"...
it can be waited until a good idea comes up.
In my second e-mail, I wrote about a bit heavy thing, whale meat in Japan.
Because in the past podcast program, there was a harsh comment about whale burgers?! in Japan.
Have you ever eaten whale burgers?
I didn't know there was such a thing like a whale burger in Japan.
It seemed that they thought we Japanese ate whale meat often.
Oh, no no no.
So, I wrote that people in Japan rarely ate whale meat these days and we didn't support whale fishing unless it was sustainable.
(While I was reading about whaling on the internet, I found kind of disgusting picture and commnets in wikipedia's article "whaling in Japan."
If it was written in Japanese, there would be lots of people who want to correct it...)
Oh, I don't know where I'm going now.
Anyway, any comment is helpful です!
Thank you.
