Hello, Mr derfel. Here comes ako again.
It took a while to finish this assignment, sorry.
But I could spend exciting time these days.
First of all, I'd like to tell you some. ← "Zero" said like this in this movie.
Mr derfel, this is the first time that I see English movie without any Japanese.
Moreover, with no English subtitled !!
I didnt use any dictionary, any English books, any web-site.
And I could keep SSS 3 rules of "No dictionary" "No Pressure" "Write just for fun !"
When I felt tired, I stopped writing.
Now, all this English are my own words !
I used dictionary only two times to check the spelling "しじふぉす" and "しがにー・うぃーばー" .
-------------------------------------------
HOLES
> What should be included in the report are :
> (1) Synopsis in 3-8 lines (or more if needed)
Stanley the 4th often gets wrong place, wrong day.
That is why he is now in the Camp Green.
In the Camp he has to dig all day long, get along with naughty guys, scorpions and lizards !
He met a boy named Zero, who was the reason Stanley got into the Camp.
Zero is a grand-child of Madame Zeroni, who was a fortune teller, told Stanley's family curse.
Meeting Zero is his family's destiny ! No coincidence.
Stanley's family repeat the same history every now and then.
Zero, who was an origin of Stanley's unfortune, brought happiness Stanley and his family at last.
> (2) Favorite words/expressions/lines in the script if any
I really realized my listening comprehension is still awful. HORRIBLE !!
If I have to dictate the words, I can write down only 20 % or less......um,,,(--;;;::),,,
But, SSS never recommend dictation. what a relief !
(Zero told Stanley to confess ? just talk ?? his reason of being prisoner)
"Stanley, I've got to tell you some."
(Stanley looked for Zero. He ray away from the Camp alone. And finding Zero, Stanley said this)
"Go back to the Camp. It ( Being alone) would be happy ? If you don't get any trouble."
(Kissng Kate is now dying. Sam's illusion came out.)
"I wish I was dead for a long time.
You and your chidren and your children's children will dig for the next one hundred years and you will never find it."
> (3) Favorite scenes/characters references if any
Zero told his true name to Stanley later.
They already know each other, but they said each other "Nice to meet you" as if they first met.
This is like the people's relation on-line, knowing each other by Handle name first and not meeting for a while or for a long time.
If I see real derfel in the future, I will say "Nice to meet you".
All the scenes Stanley and Zero were in the desert by themselves.
Especially the scene they found the Thumb-up Mountain (?? I named it now).
The song at that time, " ♪ Dont give up, never give up."
In the church(?), raindrops fell off from the ceiling.
Sam said to Kate, "I'll fix it."
Later, one day, Kate was in tears, reading some sad story.
Sam came to her and said, " I'll fix it " うあ〜 キザ〜 …でもいいわぁ。
At last it began raining, means the situation has changed.
And Stanley said to Sigourney Weaver, "Excuse me" and he left the Camp.
> (4) Impressions in 2-8 lines (or more if needed)
We all are stuck. Stuck in a hole. Dig everyday for yourself. Dig it out.
What's the purpose ? Tresure Chests in holes ?
We all keep digging, finding something without any hope.
People do repeat the same thing. Digging his own holes, digging himself.
Same as life. Same as Greek myth "Sisyphus".
Destiny is history, that comes out repeatedly in another time, in another generation.
BUT our happiness exists also in this circle.
Happiness and unfortune, round and round. No coincidence.
The circle is complete. (← Wow, it comes from STAR WARS !! Coming out suddenly !)
At first HOLES reminds me of the movie "Shawshank redemption".
I first thought the situation of Stanley is the same as the prisoners of Shawshank.
What and how do the people who are stuck in a small place act, especially what if without any reason ?
But the difference between the two is ...........
At Shawshank, Hole-digging leads to a hope to escape.
But at Camp Green in HOLES, digging is just digging all day long.
It is like concentration camps of Nazi. No hope.
Being Stuck and under the control of others.
Stanley and Zero got back home with tresure at last.
That is because Stanley got along with Zero, even though Stanley knew that Zero was the destiny of his family curse.
When Zero ran away from the Camp, Stanley decided to help him.
It was his will. Will beats curse ! ← I mean, will won. I wrote "beat" for trial.

Hello again, Mr derfel.
I am really happy to hear your comments.
Later, I'd like to hear your own impressions about HOLES.
Today I come here again this BBS because there is one thing I want to tell you.
〉 You don't have to say sorry at all. You dragged Japanese language thinking style.
First I didnt understand the word "dragged". "drag".
I first read this part "You nantoka-kantoka Jananese language thinking style"
I understood the meaning you tried to tell me.
Yes.
It is often said that saying "sorry, sorry" many times is Japanese style.
But what is "drag"...?
Today I read again your messsage.
Suddenly I found out "drag" Ohhhhh, this is ドラッ〜〜グ、マウスをドラッグするのドラッグだぁああああ。「Japanene style をドラッグする」ねーー、なーる。
Now, today, I got a new word, "drag".
I'll never forget this word with these messages. Thank you〜〜

Hi, Ako.
I'm very happy you have found out what 'drag' means,
but I'm very afraid it does not mean 「引きずっている」
as in the original だーふぇる's mail. So, just be careful
and don't try too hard to learn from writings by
a Japanese, including mine!
All the best,
Sakai

〉Hi, Ako.
Hello, SAKAI-sense-- this is ako.
(Can I say like this ? Are there any polite expression ?)
(I am awfully sorry that I know only this way.)
〉I'm very happy you have found out what 'drag' means,
I really appreciate to your kind reply.
〉but I'm very afraid it does not mean 「引きずっている」
〉as in the original だーふぇる's mail. So, just be careful
〉and don't try too hard to learn from writings by

For these several days, I thought, thought, thought.
Especially this part,
"to learn from writings by a Japanese, including mine"
After a while, I found "a Japanese", especially "a".
Sensei tried to say 「一対一対応」? Perhaps,,,,,,???
Then, I remembered I wrote this.
〉〉〉I first read this part "You nantoka-kantoka Jananese language thinking style"
The problem is this "nantoka-kantoka"!??
I replaced a word "drag" into ? with ? a Japanese, "nantoka-kantoka"
This sentence I wrote showed my awful way of thinking,,,,
Perhaps ?? This would be 「一対一対応」???
If so, I still have an old way of learning "受験英語思考 of Japan"!!
OH,,,,,,no,,,,,,that's terribbbbbbbble !!!!!
I want to get rid of that !!!
What shoud I do ??
I know! I should do only 多読〜〜。
.......Maybe I will ask you once more about this some day.
Because ako does 今一つ、わかってないように思われます。
〉All the best,
I really thank you again !!!
See you next 相談会。
Best regards, ako
