Hi, Izuko-san. This is Pickring.
Nice to meet you.

Although I don't think there are relations between football skills of Japanese players and English education in Japan, some people would agree with your opinion about the characteristics of Japanese players.

For example, Arsene Wenger, the coach of Arsenal in England Premiership, said in his book "L'esprit conquerant (勝者のエスプリ)" that while Japanese players are good at collective plays or sacrificing themselves for the team, they have difficulty in taking initiatives.

However, I don't think this is the reason of Japanese national squad's defeat in FIFA World Cup 2006. I think coach Zico's tactics was wrong and he had the responsibility of the defeat. In my opinion, he thought Brazilian squad was the best in the world and he forced Japanese players to be like Brazilian without considering Japanese player's characteristics and their strengths and limitations.

I expect that next coach Ivica Osim will make very good team because he knows that the strength of Japanese players is agility and make the best of it in his team JEF United Chiba.

Any comments are welcome.

Regards,

Pickring.
