The Panel

We held the panel on English teaching through Extensive　Reading yesterday.

Prof. Julaian Bumford　emphasized his point that English learner shuould be Enlgish users.

Prof. Rob Warring emphasized the fact that English grammar was
mainly the correct combination of words. (For example,native speakers
do not say yellow hair instead of blond haiir and blond car instead of yellow car.)

Prof. Kunihide Sakai underlined his position that his Graded Extensive Reading (SSS) aproach was not a paradigm shift but a paradigm upset.

Julain's and Rob's English were very clear and easy to understand
even for English intermediate learners. (Kunihide's English was
a little difficult for me.) So we need not tranlaters.

They and we discussed the various subjects on ER very friendly.

Aftere the session, Rob, Julian and other English teachers visited our (SEG) ER library and they said this was the best library for ER in JAPAN.

To develop SSS movement further, we need the help of native English
teachers. The event was the first step to communicate with them.
